Mobility – China and Taiwan

National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)

  • Grants are awarded for research in natural, forest and engineering sciences at Chinese  universities and research institutes.
  • Applicants should make sure that the Chinese inviting party is a person receiving an NSFC basic research grant.
  • The Chinese inviting party shall apply for a hosting grant from the NSFC to cover the applicant’s accommodation costs and grant.
  • Applicants are required to have earned a higher academic degree.
  • Minimum duration of visit is one week.
  • Special instructions for applicants

The Academy of Finland covers the researchers' round trip from their place of residence in Finland to their destination in China. The NSFC covers accommodation and a grant in China.

Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)

  • Grants are awarded for research at CAS institutes.
  • The Chinese inviting party shall be associated with a research institute under CAS.
  • Applicants are required to have earned a higher academic degree.
  • Minimum duration of visit is one week.
  • Special instructions for applicants

The Academy of Finland covers the researchers' round trip from their place of residence in Finland to their destination in China. CAS covers accommodation and a grant in China.

CAS Fellowship Program

The Academy of Finland receives the applications and presents them to CAS. CAS makes the funding decisions and answers for matters related to the programme.

Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists

  • CAS covers a 2–12-month grant in China (CNY 400,000–500,000 a year, some EUR 45,000–60,000).
  • CAS covers an economy-class flight ticket.
  • Applications are prepared on the CAS form (includes instructions and form). Applications shall be sent to the Academy of Finland Registrar’s Office, address: Academy of Finland, Hakaniemenranta 6, POB 131, 00531 Helsinki.

Young International Scientists

  • CAS covers a 12-month (+12 months) grant in China (CNY 150,000–250,000 a year, some EUR 18,000–30,000).
  • CAS covers an economy-class flight ticket.
  • Applications are prepared on the CAS form (includes instructions and form). Applications shall be sent to the Academy of Finland Registrar’s Office, address: Academy of Finland Registrar’s Office, POB 131, 00531 Helsinki.

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS)

  • Grants are awarded for research at CASS institutions and Chinese universities.
  • The Chinese inviting party shall be associated with a research institute under CASS.
  • Applicants are required to have earned a higher academic degree.
  • Minimum duration of visit is one week.

National Science Council of Taiwan (NSC)

To Taiwan

  • Grants are awarded for research at Taiwanese research institutes and universities.
  • Primarily, support is awarded for research in the following disciplines: low temperature physics, functional brain imaging, communication engineering, naval architecture, biochemistry, biomedical science, biopharmaceutical science, epidemiology, intellectual property rights and genome biotechnology ethics.
  • Applicants are required to have earned a higher academic degree.
  • Minimum duration of visit is one week.
  • Grant amounts 2012–2013
  • Special instructions for applicants

The Academy of Finland covers the researchers' round trip from their place of residence in Finland to their destination in Taiwan as well as a grant.

To Finland

  • Grants are awarded for inviting a Taiwanese researcher to Finland to carry out research.
  • Primarily, support is awarded for research in the following disciplines: low temperature physics, functional brain imaging, communication engineering, naval architecture, biochemistry, biomedical science, biopharmaceutical science, epidemiology, intellectual property rights and genome biotechnology ethics.
  • Applicants are required to have earned a higher academic degree.
  • Maximum duration of visit is 12 months.

The Academy of Finland covers the researchers' round trip from Taiwan to Finland, travel costs in connection with the scientific programme in Finland, and a grant.
