South Africa

The Academy has an agreement on cooperation with the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. The agreement allows the Academy and the NRF to support high-level research and increase researcher collaboration between Finland and South Africa.

The first Academy-NRF call for joint projects was opened in 2012, targeted at research on children and young people. The Academy is prepared to fund five joint projects for three years with a total of just over EUR 2 million. The funding decisions will be made jointly with the NRF by April 2013. The funding period for Academy funding starts on 1 September 2013, and the funding period for NRF funding on 1 April 2013.
