Wirelless data transfer
The ever-increasing use of high-speed mobile data networks, wireless sensor networks and new applications for wireless data transfer will also increase the future need for data transfer capacity in wireless networks. The research projects to be funded within this targeted call shall aim at scientific breakthroughs that can help contribute to a more efficient use of the frequency spectrum or develop higher frequency bands for wireless data transfer.
Funding will be granted to research that relates to the so-called physical layer (hardware). The projects can, for example, focus on researching the application of new material, development of active and passive components, antennas or new circuit technologies.
The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering is prepared to fund research in this thematic field with a total of EUR 3.5 million.
Funding period
The funding period starts 1 September 2012. As a rule, the funding is granted for four years.
Appendices
See Appendix 1 A, Application appendices.
How to apply
In this call, the costs of a research project are calculated according to the full cost model. Applications shall be written so as to ensure that the Academy’s contribution to funding comes to no more than 80% of the estimated total costs of the project. See guidelines on how to enter the costs in the application on the Academy’s website under Full cost model.
The deadline is 30 September 2011 at 16.15. The deadline is non-negotiable. Applications are drafted in the Academy’s online services, select Open calls > Wireless data transfer.
