Wireless Networks Research (Academy of FInland, Tekes and NSF)
The Academy of Finland, Tekes and the US National Science Foundation (NSF) have agreed to jointly support collaboration in the field of wireless networks research. The theme of the joint call is cognitive networks and radio. With the exponential growth of wireless communication, existing telecommunication networks are unable to handle the traffic; they need to be renewed and made more efficient. Cognitive radio, which enables an efficient and optimal utilisation of the radio frequency spectrum, can provide a technological breakthrough that holds great potential for the future of wireless communication.
The call was open in September 2011.
