Graduate school call: evaluation

The Academy of Finland is the responsible organisation behind the graduate schools and the graduate school call. Graduate school calls are organised every other year, and applications are invited for graduate school positions, coordinator positions and operating grants for a four-year period.

Graduate school applications are reviewed by the Academy’s Research Councils. The primary criteria used in assessing applications is the quality of operations (instruction, supervision and administration) and the current schools’ productivity, national and international cooperation as well as the PhD need in the field represented by the graduate school. More information on the issues considered in the evaluation is available here. Assessment and decision-making concerning the graduate school call will also take into account current policy lines on higher education and science policy.
