Working at the Academy
Our goal is simple: Ensuring that the Academy of Finland is an elite team of highly qualified professionals and striving to provide an inspiring and supportive work environment.
The Academy of Finland is an esteemed and attractive workplace for science and administration professionals. Reliable, expert, international and competent – these are words that our employees use to describe us. The Academy is a premier expert of science policy in Finland with an active approach to international research collaboration. According to key stakeholder groups, the Academy is highly successful in these activities and in its quality-based long-term funding.
The Academy owes its success to a wide array of experts with ambition and drive. Our objective is to ensure employee wellbeing and to provide an exciting and inspiring atmosphere. We offer excellent opportunities for career advancement and personal development. We believe in wellbeing at work and invest in it by meeting the needs of our employees in terms of cultural activities, physical exercise and ergonomics. The Academy can provide on-site fitness and exercise facilities (incl. swimming pool and sauna), free access to weekly exercise groups, subsidised massage services and an on-site staff restaurant. We also regularly organise various employee events and activities such as trips and visits to the theatre. Our occupational health programme is very extensive and we also offer flexible hours and work arrangements.
Working at the Academy of Finland means that you will be keeping track with the latest scientific developments and collaborating with leading science professionals both in Finland and abroad. Academy staff cooperate closely with universities, research institutes, business companies and national and international funding agencies. The Academy is an international workplace: we participate in the activities of foreign science and research organisations, act as a national contact point in EU framework programmes, and represent Finland in a number of international science organisations.
