Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
The Research Council for Culture and Society has an agreement with the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for collaborative research proposals submitted for bilateral funding between the Academy and the ESRC. In the framework of the agreement the Research Council supports high-quality Finnish social science research projects, which include collaboration with British researchers. The agreement covers the following fields of research, as defined by the ESRC: Economics, economic and social history, management and business studies, political science, socio-legal studies, education, psychology, cognitive studies, linguistics, human geography, environmental planning, international studies, area and development studies, social statistics, demography, social science computing, sociology, social anthropology, social policy, social work. The ESRC has notified (16 Sep 2010) the Academy that it will not be participating in this collaboration in the Academy's October call 2010.
However, researchers who cooperate with British researchers can apply for funding for an Academy project so that the British researchers within the project apply for funding from their own funding organisation. The parties no longer need to submit a joint research plan.
