Academy of Finland and Tekes to launch joint call with India
The Academy of Finland, Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, and the Indian research funding agency Department of Biotechnology (DBT) will launch a joint call for funding in the field of medical diagnostics. The Academy and Tekes have each earmarked about one million euros for the funding of three-year Indo-Finnish research projects. The DBT will match the funding contribution of the Finnish funding agencies. The call will be implemented in connection with the Academy’s January 2009 call and funding decisions will be made during summer 2009.
Tekes is also prepared to fund Finnish corporate projects in the field of medical diagnostics if there are companies in the sector that are interested in cooperation with India.
The medical diagnostics call is the fourth joint call launched by the Academy and the DBT. Previous calls resulted in a total of 2.6 million euros worth of funding for research projects in medical biotechnology, plant and agricultural biotechnology and environmental biotechnology.
