Post Doc Pool Grants Applications Round Opens
(15th Dec 2010)
Säätiöiden post doc -pooli (“the Foundations’ Post Doc Pool”) opens another application round for grants from 15 December 2010 to 14 January 2011. Grants awarded by the Pool are intended for post-doctoral research abroad. The round’s results will be published in March 2011.
The Pool, set up by Finnish foundations, aims to make Finnish research more international by offering young scholars flexible funding from one source that covers all expenses of a research period abroad.
Säätiöiden post doc -pooli has two application rounds each year and awards some 20-40 post-doctoral grants in each round. After the Pool’s first two application rounds in 2010, the Pool’s foundations granted altogether 2.5 million euros to 61 post-doctoral scholars. The autumn 2011 application round will take place from 15 August to 15 September 2011.
The grant sums are determined flexibly according to the researcher’s needs. The Pool’s grants are meant to cover all expenses to the researcher and her/his family during a research period abroad and an actual working grant may also be included in the sum. The research period must last at least one academic year. Grants may also be awarded for longer periods.
Säätiöiden post doc -pooli was set up for a three-year trial period (2010-2012) by the Emil Aaltonen Foundation, Helsingin Sanomat Foundation, Kone Foundation, Alfred Kordelin Foundation, Finnish Cultural Foundation, Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion and Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, which allocate 2.5 million euros to the Pool annually.
