WoodWisDom-Net

The ERA-NET project WoodWisdom-Net (Networking and Integration of National Programmes in the Area of Wood Material Science) started at the beginning of 2004.  The strategic objectives of the project are to deepen collaboration between the European funding agencies in the field of wood material science with the aim to coordinate the use of research funding, to integrate research resources from different countries and to combine research resources in different countries to promote the competitiveness and sustainable development of the European forest cluster.

The first joint call was opened in autumn 2006.

The European collaboration in the WoodWisdom-Net project arises from the Finnish Forest Cluster Research Programme Wood Wisdom (1998–2001) and its expansion to the Finnish-Swedish co-funded Wood Material Science Research Programme (2003–2007), the funding agencies of which also participate in the WoodWisdom-Net project.

The WoodWisdom-Net project, coordinated by Tekes in Finland, comprises in all 18 national research funding agencies from eight countries. In addition to Tekes, the following partners are involved in the project:  Academy of Finland and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry from Finland; Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas) and Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA) from Sweden; Danish Forest and Nature Agency (DFNA) and Danish Technical Research Council (STVF) from Denmark; Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and Project Management Organisation Jülich (FZJ-PTJ) from Germany; and Research Council of Norway (RCN) and Innovation Norway (SND) from Norway; Austrian Research Promotion Agency from Austria, Ministry of Agriculture, Generel Direction for Forest and Rural Affairs, Technical Centre for Wood and Furniture (CTBA) and National Institute of Agronomical Research, Department of Forest, Grassland and Freshwater Ecology (INRA) from France; Forestry Commission (FC) and Scottish Enterprise (SE) from the UK; and Nordic Forest Research Cooperation Committee.
